Smoke Detectors
The following words are not meant to alarm or insult anyone but they are only the harsh truth. Many times a year we hear stories of people that have been burned in their homes from a house fire. Usually these fires could have been prevented if the home owner had just practiced a little fire safety. The injuries also could have been prevented with a fire safety device. It is all to common to hear that these people did not have a smoke detector anywhere in their homes. Well you do not have to be one of these people. You do not have to be part of these kinds of statistics. Together we will learn a little bit more about smoke detectors by talking about what they are, how they benefit us and our families, and why every person should have at least one if not two located somewhere in their house.
So what is a smoke detector? A smoke detector acts as a smoke indicator. It has sensors that can read changes in the air. When smoke gets near enough these sensors activate an alarm. If you have some kind of home security device the system will not be complete without some kind of smoke alarm. It also is a type of wake up alarm. They are designed to let you know of the presence of smoke whether you are asleep or awake. If you are asleep the alarm should wake you up. Depending on the location of the detector and you though, you may not be close enough to hear it. That is why it may be wise to have more than one smoke indicator in your house. Like in all of the places where a fire is likely to happen or near the location where you sleep.
Now lets talk about the benefits that using smoke detectors can bring us. For starters we will hopefully not burn up in our home or our house will not burn down as well. If we are alerted of fire in enough time we may be able to extinguish the fire ours selves with our fire extinguisher before the fire gets to out of control. So really the number one benefit of a smoke alarm is the fact of increased fire safety.
Lastly we need to discuss why you and everyone else should have a smoke detector. The number one reason is for the protection of your family. You and I both do not wish anything to happen to your family especially with fire. So get a smoke detector today.
